Founded in 1840
Barkway First School was founded in 1840 and since that time, it has sought to provide an excellent educational foundation for its pupils. Over the years, the school has formed a very close relationship with the village community. The pupils benefit hugely from this in many areas within the curriculum.
Our village school welcomes pupils, ranging from the ages of 3 to 9 (Nursery to Year 4). We are proud of our friendly and inclusive school, with delightful pupils, excellent teachers and support staff, supportive parents and governors. We have close partnership links with the village church of St Mary Magdalene and with the village community of Barkway.
The School offers:
- Good sized classrooms, well equipped with access to Information Technology
- Access to a large sports field
- Excellent educational, sporting and recreational resources
- Large playground and open-air Foundation area
- Well stocked library
